WAKE UP NIGERIA, ITS SOLUTION TIME;

By Emecho Ted
EMECHO TED (AEP)

The trouble with Nigeria is simply and squarely a failure of leadership. There is nothing basically wrong with the Nigerian character. There is nothing wrong with the Nigerian land or climate or water or air or anything else. The Nigerian problem is the unwillingness or inability of its leaders to rise to the responsibility, to the challenge of personal examples which are the hallmarks of true leadership”
Well, there is no Problem that exists under the Sun that has no Solution.  The problem of Nigeria   today is not an Exemption. To Build a New and Better Nigeria is not something that can be Achievable by Magic. It does not need Violence, Atrocities and Damages that are already going on there. The Current Situation neither requires Divisions, nor any sort or form of Dictations from either within or from outside the Country.

The best and the only Start-Point required in Solving Nigeria's Problems is to Actively
Recognize each and every Nigerian, through a Concrete Establishment of a Valid Nation-Wide-Computerized System for Citizens' Registry and Identification in all ramifications. For this would not only promote Accessibility, Accountability and Orderliness it would  be a starting point in eradicating Crimes, indiscriminate Population increase, Insecurity, Environmental degradation, Educational backwardness, Economic conflict, Electoral manipulations  and Many More.

This alone would solve 70% of our problems.

My definition of registry and identification is not just mere head count and issuing national identification card. No! It should be a systematic process of gathering quality information about the general population, in order to present a full and reliable picture of the population in the country, its housing conditions and demographic, social and economic characteristics.

With this, National Planning, Budgeting, Quality Decision Making and Development would be attained.

For example, with adequate registry and identification, available date would be useful to decision-makers as a basis for Enhancing and maintaining the integrity of our electoral process, setting policies in various fields: education, health, welfare, housing and development, transportation and other services.

Having said this, I still doubtlessly admit that Leadership is quite an uneasy Task, for it is a Figurative State of Wearing the Crown. And an idiomatic expression clearly has it, saying:

"Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown"

With these in mind, the Choice or Appointments of Persons that should Hold Nigeria's Leadership Positions really need be Re-Designed to be Dependent on the Basis of God's Fear; Patriotism; and Truthfulness. The Situation where Politics is turned into a Money-making Business and godfatherism has always denied Nigerians of their Rights to an Honest and Caring Leadership that has the  Power to Change and, or to Re-write the Present, the Past, and the Future of a People, of this  Society. The problem here is that Nigerian leaders are not God fearing. They see that God is always merciful therefore indulge in UNGODLY acts. Now tell me, if the oath sworn into political and other public offices were associated with traditional deity, what becomes of us?

Another area of consideration is our Educational system“.  Has anyone ever asked why it is called a system? Obviously, it’s because of the togetherness in performances and the functional interrelationship by every single unit. If we want Nigeria to develop or lead in the 21st century, nothing is more important than giving everyone the best education possible — from the day they start preschool to the day they start their career.” Alongside with registration and identification, as a nation, we should invest in all sectors especially in the educational sector by locating schools in strategic and conducive environment with well equipped facilities and qualified stuff. Not just ending there, monitoring should commence as to checkmate quality inventorization and management. By so doing, disregarding all manner of free educational policies to attain and maintain high standard values. Monitoring is not applicable to the educational sector only, but to other sectors.

Maintaining quality schools alone does not guarantee automatic good health and other basic things of life, everybody has to realize the power of individual responsibility in their daily activities. They should understand the power of reciprocity within the social structure.  We must learn to appreciate what we have and take good care of them. We must learn to do what is right at all time. How is this possible, EDUCATION.

A lot of people say: why can’t we be like America, I agree with them, but the truth is that we only have to thank God for the growth in their technological development. In that regard, they have shown us the way by making things easy, and if we are ready we are only a stone throw away to a successful National Development.

If you allow me, I won’t get tired of writing. Every day we hear our leaders are abroad, the question is; what do they actually do or learn while they are there? Instead of being abroad, investing our money, why not learn how development is archived and apply it here in Nigeria as a starting point.

The time has come for us to make Reading our daily routine. People don’t want to read, how can we have a generation of people who don’t want to read? We must cultivate that habit of reading and cultivate knowledge because knowledge is power. The time has come for my dreams to be heard; The time when they will not be pushed aside and turned into your own selfish interest all because you won’t listen,  the time  to say no to this “The Fight of Our Time” is also our fight.  NOOO! This is the time to end the fight and embrace light.

Each and every Nigerian, no matter how low and high, has a contribution to make in turning things around, but our leaders must show the way by setting good example and bringing out policies that will add value to the lives of citizens in the areas of manufacturing, education, agriculture, infrastructure, among others.

We as a Nation must make an earnest resolve to change from a heavily import-oriented country to an export one to give our economy the necessary stimulant for growth. Our politicians should put the nation and its citizens first in whatever they do even at the expense of their own welfare or benefit. Other public officials should operate as the “public servants” they are and not to turn their positions into money spinners.

It is not late but if you consider what the United States has achieved since it declared independence in 1776, the success of Japan since Hiroshima, the emergence of Germany after WW II as the leader of the New  Europe, Singapore since the attainment of independence in 1995, or indeed what South Africa has achieved so far since the demise of apartheid with what we have so far recorded in all spheres of life in Nigeria since our Independence, there is cause for concern.

GOD BLESS NIGERIA!!!
